Air China is generally a very nice airline. Their on board service is super nice with plenty of drinks (even alcoholic) provided for free. NIce legrrom, nice cabin with super nice IFE (all flights was on board A330). The only con was the food and it is because it is very chinese... I think many europeans would skip it, but anyway I can give 5/5 to Air China and I will definitely choose them again!
About Connection in Shanghai-Pudong:
It is a chaos! When you land there is no any clear information about transit passengers. There is a person who you have to notice and ask him for your next flight, and then follow him to something like a transit desk where they change your boarding passes (even we already got all boarding passes at CDG), then following this guy we went to body temperature check sensor. Later they opened a door with sign "Staff only", we procceded through an additional security check and then we were at the boarding gates area. If you need to transfer in PVG you better be prepared for long procedure. It was very very very confusing!!!
On our way back we had 8h layover and decided to go to the city. The procedure was much more easier to go outside and then return to the airport for your next flight instead of doing the transit at the airport.
The only problem in this case was that we waited around 2h at passport control for our 144h-Visa Free Entry in China.
