Sofia International Airport (IATA code: SOF) is the biggest airport in Bulgaria, serving the capital Sofia. It consists of two terminals (terminal 1: older terminal, terminal 2: newer terminal). Both terminals are 2 kilometers away from each other, connected landside by a shuttle bus service, running every 30 min.
Terminal 1 of Sofia airport is extremely old and can get overcrowded at peak hours. It is primarily being used by wizzair and easyjet, where people travel with a lot of hand luggage. At peak hours (around 5-6 am) there are very long lines. It may take over an hour at the security check. At other times during the day, waiting time can be 10-15 min only. Only a few cafes to eat sandwiches, one duty free shop only, toilets are extremely dirty...no air bridges, buses only.
